My Life

James Slade

Young boy from the bush with no confidence Now in the city with no experience No women either and as lonely as hell Familiar story I guess you can tell

Went for the woman who was less confident than me So I could always feel stronger than she We did alright for awhile And thought it would last But love had died and lost its grasp

It took years to admit that it was all gone Even then much damage was already done What was alright was soon made wrong And things said wrong cannot be make right

Two beautiful children made it last longer Oh if only I could have been stronger But I needed love in ways I can’t say And went off to find it in my own way

I need the closeness and crave the real woman But first attempts are mistakes that can’t be easily forgiven

I finally see the one that I want But had to fight to near death because she can’t I am tested to the limit Is she worth the effort I ask time after time Oh yes is the answer again and again and again

And then a beautiful star emerges from up above Shining her love down on me for all to see I bask in the lime light and soak up the rays I have found my love and want to live again every day
