The Ring

James Slade

It came into my possession all those years ago
But it did not fit anyone we know
So it lay there alone and no one cared
Not being loved or wanted or shared
So who was it for I hear you ask
Are there many out there up to the task
Although there were others who wanted some fun
Like Cinderella’s shoe it would fit only one
The stars in the heavens pointed the way
To finding the hand of the one who will say
Yes I will love you all the days of my life
Please take me forever make me your wife
So the ring was tested and found to be true
It was only made for one and that one was you
It was waiting for true love and passion to shine
So it could become yours and you become mine
